Currently, when using a recipe that you created in the app, it adds the recipe to our food log, carte blanche, as is.
What I would like to see is when you are adding a recipe that you created in the app to your log, there should be a checkbox to update one or more ingredients before adding to the log.
If you check that box, you will have the option to update one or more items in the recipe for this one food log entry. For example, I have a recipe that has the following ingredients:
Aproten Penne 65g
Rao's Marinara Sauce 0.5 cup
Onions, Sauteed 2 TBSP Simplified
Pepper, Green, Sauteed 2TBSP Simplified
Garlic, Sauteed 1 tsp Simplified
I want to add this recipe I have saved to the food log, but today I am out of Aproten Pasta. I check and see that I have some of the Casava Penne Pasta that I can substitute. It's a bit higher, but it fits into my daily budget.
The way things are currently, I would not be able to use the recipe I have created already because it does not have the correct ingredients, so my numbers would be incorrect. My only two choices would be to enter every ingredient manually, which is a waste because I already have this recipe and only one ingredient is changing, or to manually create a whole new recipe with just this one ingredient difference, arguably an even bigger waste of time. I guess a third option would be to decide it's not worth it and have something else entirely, which I believe is the greatest failure if that is what someone winds up doing, and some will do that if they are trying to record their meals religiously.
If the feature I am requesting is added, I can add the existing recipe, check that box when adding, and it would allow me to change that one ingredient (or more, if necessary). It should show me the difference in what it was and what it will be with the change(s), and allow me to continue adding the recipe with the change(s) to the log.
Additionally, there should be an option to keep the existing recipe as is, update the existing recipe with this new ingredient, or create a whole new recipe with this new ingredient, keeping the original and adding this new one.
